I love to cook, and many of my family loves cooking too, but we all have our own little Twists on recipes and that's what I'm here to share with you, My Twists on some great recipes that make them even more tasty.
Some are new some are old favorites but I put time and love into everything I make and write about.
I have bought so much Gatorade but I found these recipes and so I wanted to experiment with them. We like these
Make your own DIY Healthy Sports Drink
Concentrate. Re-hydrate your body without artificial flavors, preservatives and
chemicals! Here’s a natural drink made with Lemon Juice, Honey (or maple syrup),
Sea Salt and Baking Soda.
- 1 cup lemon juice (approx. 6-8 lemons)
cup honey or maple syrup
1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Place in a pint mason
jar and stir to combine (the lemon juice and baking soda will react, so stir it
down), keep concentrate in the fridge. This can be added to 1 gallon of filtered
water, or add 1-2 tablespoons to each 8 ounces (1 cup) of water.

Homemade sports drink
recipe without artificial flavors or ingredients.
1 quart of liquid (options: green tea, herbal teas, coconut water, plain water, etc)
⅛-1/4 tsp Himalayan Sea Salt (regular table salt will work, but it doesn’t have all the trace minerals)
¼ to ½ tsp crushed Calcium magnesium tablets or powder (optional)
¼ cup or more of juice (optional. Can use grape, apple, lemon, lime, pineapple, etc)
1-2 TBSP sweetener (optional)- can use honey, stevia, etc. I suggest brewing stevia leaf into the base liquid for the most natural option.
Brew tea if using or slightly warm base liquid
Add sea salt and calcium magnesium (if using)
Add juice and mix or shake well
Cool and store in fridge until ready to use
[As an example, my normal recipe includes 1 quart of tea (brewed with Red Raspberry Leaf, Alfalfa, Nettle and Stevia), ¼ tsp sea salt, ¼ tsp calcium magnesium powder (about 1,000 mg), and ¼ cup grape or apple juice]
Homemade Gatorade Recipe
3 cups of flavored Kombucha (we used strawberry blueberry)
½ cup organic apple juice
¼ teaspoon Real Salt (or other salt with trace minerals intact)
½ teaspoon Natural Calm magnesium powder (we used Raspberry Lemon)
Mix all ingredients in a quart-sized mason jar.
Place in fridge to keep chilled until you’re ready to use it.
You can use different liquids like green or herbal tea or various juices, but this is what we had on hand.
