Brown-eyed Susans

This is the time of year for brown eyed susan flowers and a perfect time to make these light almond tasting cookies, 


 **you can get creative and use slivered almonds on top of each cookie like flower petals then place a chocolate candy kiss on top of each one


Ingredients

1 cup Butter or Margarine
3 tablespoons Sugar
1 teaspoon Almond Extract
2 cups Flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt

Frosting Or Use A bag of Hershey Kisses on each cookie
1 cup Powdered Sugar
2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder
2 tablespoons Hot Water
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
36 Almonds or sliced almonds for the flower petal cookies

Cream butter or margarine in a large bowl, then add sugar, almond extract, flour and salt; mix well. Roll level tablespoons of this mixture into balls and place onto a greased cookie sheet and flatten slightly. BAke at 400 degrees F for 10 - 12 minutes. Cool, then frost.

Frosting:
Combine powdered sugar with cocoa in a mixing bowl. Add water & vanilla, then mix well. Place 1/2 teaspoon of frosting onto each cooled cookie, then top with an almond in the center.
Makes 36 cookies
